Maurice Ménardeau, a pupil of Charles Fouqueray, devoted himself entirely to painting from 1921 onwards, joining the Concarneau school in 1924, where he made friends with Delpy and Barnoin. From 1925, he exhibited in Paris, where he achieved a certain notoriety. An avid traveler, he was appointed painter to the French Navy in 1936. The Musée du Faouet devoted an exhibition to him in 2012.
