Ivory, gilded silver. On an oval, domed silver base with a fluted and flared rim. Chiseled decoration on all sides featuring a wild boar, a hound, and a deer, surrounded by tendrils. Oval, conical ivory body, carved in continuous high relief with a wild boar hunting scene. Extremely detailed depiction of both the figures and the landscape. The ivory handle is shaped like a fully carved hound. Hinged silver lid, distinctly domed, with decoration echoing that of the base. Palmette-shaped thumb rest. The ivory knob depicts a wild boar fighting a hound. The underside bears a hallmark and two marks: the first is "Hanau," the second a chisel mark. The base and knob are slightly loose (with some play).
The upper branch has a slight dent; otherwise in good condition. Dimensions 22 x 16 cm, total weight 615 g. Ivory carving of the highest quality. Updated CITES document included. Please note: this item can only be shipped within the European Union.
