Artist: Georges Omerth
Georges Omerth Infirmière soignant un soldat sculpture Art Déco en Bronze début XXe

Active during the years 1895 to 1925, Georges Omerth was a talented yet enigmatic French bronze sculptor, very little is known about his lifetime.

The intimacy of his life did not prevent him from making a career, mainly on the theme of militaria, during the Art Deco period (1910-1939), sought after today.

This Bronze group signed on the terrace represents a nurse from the Great War of 1914-1918, holding a bottle of alcohol, the "war remedy" used to sober the wounded soldier on the ground. Badly wounded, bandaged, his helmet and weapon on the ground, he is leaning against a ruin.

Omerth exposes the reality of conditions in this dark period of European history, posing as a true critic, where hell and ruin mingled with rationing of food & means, turning humans into mere pawns.
