Lovely flying coffee table by Roger Capron made of ceramic tiles (20x10cm) with stylized horse decor, the frame is in black lacquered steel, with two carrying handles.
Length: 62cm, width: 31.5cm, height: 41.5cm.
No signed tile as quaisment always with this kind of decor.
Very good condition, only one tile has a small chip in the corner, that's all. it's obviously very easy to restore, especially as this one is detached...
This is a very pretty flying table by Roger Capron, rather early between 1950 and 1955, this model is very well known in his production, he declined it in many decorations. Here it's a stylized horse design with yellow, green and black enamels on a milky white background.
Roger Capron, born in Vincennes on September 4, 1922 and died in Cannes on November 8, 2006, was a French ceramist. interested in drawing, Roger Capron studied at the École des ArtsDupetit-Thouars in Paris from 1938 to 1943, before going on to teach drawing fromteaching drawing there from 1945 onwards.prompted him to change his medium: on February 6, 1946, he moved toVallauris, where he set up a ceramics workshop, Callis. In the process, hehe joined forces with Robert Picault and then Jean Derval in 1948, therebyin the renaissance of ceramics in Vallauris, where he put into practice the motto motto of his master, René Gabriel, "to make beauty accessible to all".
In 1952, Capron bought an abandoned pottery in Vallaurisand began the production for which he is now famous. in 1955, Capronmarried Jacqueline Hubin, known as "Jacotte", who became his collaborator.collaborator.
