Att. To Théodore Jung (1803-1865), Battle Scene, Large Watercolor, Oval, Empire Frame
Artist: Attribuée à Théodore Jung (1803-1865)
Very fine 19th-century watercolor with some gouache highlights depicting a military battle with its encampment in the foreground and the battle scene in the background, separated by a bridge. This drawing is attributed to Théodore JUNG (1803-1865), who was a history painter attached to the Ministry of War depot, where he was able to execute a large number of battles. These works are always of great finesse and meticulousness. The Musée de Versailles is home to a dozen of his watercolors...The work is enhanced by an oval passe-partout and a superb large-format antique frame with a swan motif at the corners, lightly redecorated (Dimensions 44 : 57.5 cm )!
