The handle is carved bone. The umbrella features two ingenious systems typical of the period:
- A metal ring at the top for tilting the canvas when open
- A central ring for folding the umbrella in half, for easy storage or access to a carriage.
It measures 22,23 inches long when closed and approximately 18,90 inches in diameter when open.
