Antique Walking Stick With A Hidden Mechanism Concealing A Petrol Lighter

An elegant and rare walking stick with a mechanism whose pommel unscrews at two levels, revealing an integrated wheel lighter. It is made almost entirely of horn, the shaft composed of numerous horn discs in various colors. Metal ferrule. An atypical and refined piece, typical of sophisticated men's accessories of the Belle Époque. It is flexible and was not intended for leaning. It measures 36,22 inches in length. France, circa 1900. Note: Various models of walking sticks with integrated wheel lighters are presented in Catherine Dike's reference book "Les cannes à système" (Walking Sticks with Mechanisms), chapter 7, particularly illustrations 7/106 and 7/111.
