Second Empire Umbrella, Excellent Condition, France, Circa 1860, Greyhound Pommel
Charming mid-19ᵉ century parasol, whose silk canvas and the lace has been replaced. It is therefore in perfect condition and a use is quite possible today.
The handle is made of wood on the upper partand carved bone on the lower part, ending in a fine greyhound head.
The umbrella features two ingenious systems typical of the period:
- An upper metal ringallowing the canvas to be tilted when open.
.- A central ring to fold the parasol in half the parasol in two, for easy storage or access to a carriage.
It measures 24,8 inches long closed and approximately 22,44 inches in diameter open.
