18th-century fan. The paper leaf is painted in gouache depicting a scene where a woman is training a dog to perform for a couple; another couple is by a river. Superb mount in engraved and painted ivory, adorned with three cartouches on a background of mother-of-pearl (a slight loss of mother-of-pearl on two ribs). The fan measures 10,63 inches when closed. France, circa 1775.
