Paris 1718, Pair Of Regency Candlesticks , Jacques -françois Grebeude , Sterling Silver
Artist: Jacques -françois Grebeude , Maître En 1711
Rare pair of Regency period solid silver torches. They are perfectly and legibly hallmarked in the binnacles and feet. Designed on an octagonal plan, they are decorated with gadroon friezes and engraved with culotte falls, arabesques and florets on an amati background. Three centuries of ownership have already polished them, so the engraved decorations are a little worn in places. The coats of arms engraved in the feet are half-faded.
Quite heavy for their size, they weigh 1063 grams per pair.
