Charming early portrait of a young woman in profile, oil on canvas, French school circa 1860-1890 and signed A. Piard lower left. The composition is inspired by historicist models of the late XIXᵉ century, with a dark background contrasting the light face, raised hair adorned with pearls and a green cabochon pendant emphasizing the model's delicate allure.
Portrait format, canvas 40.5x32.5 cm, frame 52x44 cm for 5.5 cm thickness. Nice condition for its age, however the canvas shows a network of natural craquelures. A trace is visible at the top of the head. Recent gloss varnish. The original wood and gilded stucco frame has been repaired, repainted and solidified, clean in-house work. Approx. 1,600kg.
