Large Ep Napoléon III Liqueur Cellar, Mirror Marquetry, Baccarat Crystal, 6 Decanters, 30 Glasses

Superb, large Napoleon III-period liqueur cellar, richly inlaid with precious woods featuring exquisite floral decoration.

The case features remarkable marquetry work in fruitwood and burr veneer, embellished with chased brass and mother-of-pearl fillets, frames and cartouches, as well as a central medallion adorned with delicate inlays. The ensemble is highlighted by brass baguettes and blackened wood reserves, typical of quality Second Empire production.

The interior, entirely lined with mirrors encrusted with gilded bronze baguette, reveals a sumptuous display case in finely chased gilded bronze, designed to hold flasks and glasses. The folding-hinge opening mechanism offers a spectacular display of the service.

The cellar contains:

• 6 crystal decanters with faceted stoppers
• 30 crystal glasses (service incomplete, 11 glasses missing)

The set is in finely wheel-engraved crystal enhanced with gilding, a model produced by the house of baccarat that can be found in early catalogs.
