E. Scattolini (venice, Early 20th Century) - Bragozzi With Raised Sails On The Lagoon.
Artist: Vittorio Matiolin (actif à Venise Au Début Du Xxe Siècle)
E. Scattolini (active in Venice in the early 20th century) - Bragozzi with raised sails on the lagoon.
72 x 79 cm (without frame) - 79 x 87 cm (with frame).
Oil on panel, in gilded wooden frame.
The painting depicts two bragozzi moored on the lagoon, their raised sails dominating the composition: a large white sail occupies almost the entire left half of the scene, while an orange-ochre sail of the second vessel fills the right. The water, rendered in touches of green and turquoise, reflects the colours of the hulls. In the background, a thin strip of land with low buildings is visible. The rapid, impastoed brushwork and vivid chromatic range are fully consistent with the style and subjects of the signed works by E. Scattolini, to which this panel is to be related on grounds of stylistic and thematic affinity.
Condition report: Good state of conservation of the painted surface.
