Large polychrome earthenware covered pot, Late 19th century Asian work

Important tripod earthenware covered pot, richly decorated with polychrome relief decoration of Chinese and Japanese scenes.

The body features large figurative scenes with figures in traditional costume, landscapes and architecture, in a spirit close to famille verte / famille rose decor.

The decoration is particularly elaborate with relief highlights (barbotine) and vivid polychromy (blue, green, ochre, manganese).
The reverse is adorned with stylized floral decoration.

The lid is topped with a stylized chimera / Fô dog, while the side handles and feet repeat fantastic zoomorphic forms, giving the whole a highly decorative appearance.
