Artist biography:
Claude Jousset was born in 1935 at the foot of the Butte Montmartre. Classically trained, he was a pupil at the Ecole des Arts Appliqués and had as a friend and model the painter Lucien Terny, a massier at the Académie Julian. However, on leaving the school, he turned first to advertising, creating a large number of decors for Parisian restaurants and cafés in keeping with a long-standing local tradition. After several years of painting privately, in 1963 he decided to take part in his first Salon. His landscapes soon met with great success, and Claude Jousset continued to exhibit his work. He received numerous awards, including the 1st prize for French landscape artists at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1967. Since then, he has been taken under the wing of numerous galleries in Paris, London and Vienna. A landscape painter, he depicts Paris, his favorite subject, as well as landscapes of the French countryside, the Normandy seaside or the Venetian lagoon... Claude Jousset defines himself as a "painter of poetic reality".
