Joseph D'Aste (1881-1945) an Italian-born sculptor based in Paris, exhibited regularly at the Salon des artistes français from 1905.
Specializing in genre scenes and childhood, his Art Nouveau-style work is marked by great realism in the treatment of traditional costumes, particularly Breton and Dutch.
One of his major works, the "peasants and children" group belongs to the national collections and is kept at the Musée d'Orsay published by the réunion des musées nationaux.
