Edmond Céria. Saint Malo. The Port Of Petit Bé.

Artist: Edmond Céria
Here's an interesting work depicting "le port du petit Bé"
in Saint Malo. The composition is original, the touch lively and light
characteristic of the work of our painter Edmond Céria.
Edmond Céria was born in 1884 in Haute-Savoie and died in 1955 or
1956 according to other sources. Referred to as a painter of figures
nudes, cityscapes, seascapes, still lifes, illustrator.
After college in Evian, he was a student at the Beaux-Arts in Geneva,
as a decorator and letter painter; then came to Paris in 1904,
where he attended the Académie Julian. He then made a decisive trip to Tuscany in 1919. After that, he spent time on the
Côte d' Azur, in Chateau-Landon, Savoy, Pisa, Rome, Brittany, etc.
In 1907, he made his debut at the Salon des Artistes Indépendants. A member of the Salon d'Automne since 1912, he also exhibited at the Salon des Tuileries since its foundation in 1925. He also exhibited
individually in 1924 in Paris, Galerie Devambez, galerie Marcel
Bernheim;1930, London, galerie Brown et Philips, and Lyon; 1932 Paris
Marcel Bernheim; 1935 Paris galerie A. Schoeller; 1937 Stockholm;
1951 Beirut and South Africa; 1953 Paris, galerie Pétridès; 1954
New York, galerie Wildenstein. In 1934, he was made chevalier de la légion
d' Honneur, peintre de la marine in 1945, officier de la légion d' honneur in 1953.
In 1938, he was awarded one of the Carnegie prizes, thus finding consecration in the
United States.
He is a painter who touches the sensibility with his light, lively and
delicate manner and his soft lights. He is represented in many museums.
Our work is painted on a wooden panel measuring 41 cm x 33 cm,
a standard 6 Figure format. Annotated on the back, "Le petit Bé Saint Malo".
The painting is signed lower right. CERIA.
It is presented in its original ( Montparnasse ) frame with keys.
