Louis XIV Mirror With Parecloses And Palmettes, Early 18th Century.
Carved and gilded wood mirror with parecloses, featuring a rectangular shape topped by an arched top.
The composition, very balanced and still strongly influenced by Louis XIV aesthetics, is organized around a central mirror framed by lateral parecloses. The applied pediment is adorned with a large palmette, accompanied by flowering branches. The overall symmetry and architectural structure are typical of the period.
The mirror retains its original mercury main glass, showing signs of wear and tear. The parecloses show some damage.
The softwood rear floor is original.
The gilding is old but later. Overall in good condition.
