Bronze Sculpture Le Chanteur Florentin - Paul Dubois (1827-1905) Barbedienne
The Florentine Singer from the 15th century, important bronze sculpture, it is signed on the terrace P. DVBOIS, F. BARBEDIENNE FONDEUR as well as the mechanical reduction stamp Collas, original brown patina, period second half of the 19th century.
Paul Dubois (1827-1905) Son of a notary, he first studied law, then attracted by sculpture, entered the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris in 1858, where he stayed for a year, then spent four years in Italy, notably in Rome and Florence, where Renaissance Florentine sculpture left its definitive mark on his art.
He made his debut at the 1857 Salon, but it was in 1864 with his Saint Jean Baptiste Enfant and 1865 with his Florentine Singer, Medal of Honor, that he achieved fame. These two works were published in various sizes.
