"Geneviève Duboul (1913-2007) - Ceramic Pitcher Decorated With A Pair Of Birds "
Geneviève Duboul (1913-2007) Polychrome ceramic pitcher decorated with birds and foliage. Signed under the base. Geneviève Duboul discovered her passion in the Icart workshop in Toulouse. She studied at the Toulouse School of Fine Arts before moving to Paris to join André Lhote's workshop. During her apprenticeship and later her mastery of ceramics at the Sant Vicens workshop, she spent 15 years working alongside artists such as Pablo Picasso, Jean Camberoque, Gumersind Gomila, Jean-Picart Le Doux, and Jacqueline Barthe—encounters that would forever mark her life. Geneviève Duboul also learned the art of tapestry and worked for the International Tapestry Center in Aubusson (Creuse). Geneviève Duboul then moved to Carcassonne, where she collaborated closely with the artist Jean Camberoque. She exhibited at the "La Boutique d'art" gallery in November 1963. Her work is characterized by great poetry and infinite gentleness. Women are often depicted in her work. She exhibited for the first time at the Salon des Artistes Méridionaux in 1939 before becoming a member in 1942. Today, some of her works are still visible in the public domain; two paintings decorate one of the transepts of the Church of Notre-Dame de l'Assomption in Gruissan; a Nude is also held in the collections of the Musée des Augustins in Toulouse.
