Painting, oil on canvas, signed lower left by the painter Ferdinand OLIVIER (1873-1957), dating from the early 20th century. The scene depicts the Church of the Madeleine. Good condition, well framed, see photos. A beautiful post-Impressionist painting, on display at the gallery in Toulouse. Provenance: the artist's family. Other works, including some of his most important pieces, are forthcoming. Ferdinand OLIVIER (1873-1957). Official painter of the French Navy in 1905. First recipient of the Indochina Prize in 1910, awarded by the Colonial Society of French Artists, and winner of the Colonial Painting Prize in 1920. Born in Martigues, he entered Eugène Carrière's studio at the École des Beaux-Arts in his youth. In 1905 he became an official painter of the French Navy. In 1926 he participated in the exhibition organized by the newspaper "La Hune: Painters of the Sea." He primarily depicted Provence: Aubagne, Carry-le-Rouët, and Martigues. A contemporary painter of the Impressionists, but closer to the Symbolists. Dimensions without frame: 81 cm x 65 cm. With frame: 88 cm x 78 cm.
