Danish rosewood flat desk attributed to Arne Vodder - Denmark, circa 1960

Elegant Danish rosewood flat desk, attributed to designer Arne Vodder, a major figure of mid-20ᵉ century Scandinavian design.

This desk, with its pure, perfectly balanced lines, is a refined illustration of the aesthetics of 1960s Danish modernism, where formal sobriety is combined with the nobility of materials. Crafted in warm, deep-veined rosewood, it features a slightly overhanging top resting on an elegantly tapered base, characteristic of Scandinavian furniture from this period.

The front opens with three central drawers, offering discreet storage space while maintaining the architectural purity of the whole. The cabinet is designed to be placed in the center of a room, its reverse side also carefully finished, a quality sought after in Danish desks for modern interiors.

This desk has undergone a complete restoration in our workshops:

  • general overhaul of the structure
  • restoration of veneers
  • traditional pad varnish finishing, carried out in accordance with cabinetmaking techniques
  • completely refurbished surface, highlighting the depth and nuances of the rosewood.

The set today presents a remarkable quality of presentation, ready to take its place in a contemporary interior, study or collector's desk.

A piece representative of the functional elegance of Danish design, combining pure lines, quality precious woods and manufacturing excellence.

Denmark, circa 1960.
