Walnut and burr walnut chest of drawers – Louis-Philippe period, 19th century.
An elegant Louis-Philippe period chest of drawers in walnut and burr walnut, featuring a beautiful harmony of veneer and a particularly expressive natural grain. This piece comprises seven drawers in the front, characteristic of the chest of drawers originally intended for storing linen for each day of the week. The drawers are richly veneered in burr walnut, whose deep, flowing grain offers a superb natural design, highly sought after in 19th-century furniture. The piece is framed by a solid walnut structure that underscores the elegant simplicity characteristic of the Louis-Philippe style. The cabinet rests on molded plinth feet and features balanced proportions and a clean, refined line, typical of bourgeois furniture of this period. This chest of drawers has been fully restored in our workshops: general repair and consolidation, preventative woodworm treatment, overhauled locks with functional keyholes and keys, and restoration and enhancement of the veneer. It now displays a beautiful, warm, and deep patina that perfectly highlights the richness of the walnut and burr walnut. An elegant and practical piece of furniture, both decorative and functional, that will find its place naturally in a classic interior as well as in a more contemporary setting.
