Fetish Statue, Attié People, Ivory Coast
Statue featuring a standing male figure. The general appearance is powerful. The arms are detached from the body and the hands meet at the abdomen. They hold a staff or scepter. The head is traditionally made. The neck is ringed. Sex is prominent, as is a prominent navel. The statue was entirely covered with a thick crusty patina. Some of it remains. At the back of the head, a squared-off headdress has been carved under the crusty patina.Wood with a partial crusty patina, slightly missing feet.
