Large cream silk canvas featuring sSt François de Sales, painted with gouache directlyen on the fabric. Many parts of this "painting" are embroidered with silk chenille in very vivid colors, the trees, the ground, the miter of the Holy Bishop etc.
Great freshness of the colors, good condition of the fabric, no holes, a few very small stains barely visible.
French work from the early 19th century. Sold with (or without, as desired) its original gilded leaf frame, trimmed with palmettes at the 4 corners. Damaged. Blown glass window, probably original.
