Wall Fountain In Polychrome Earthenware, Rocaille Décor With Mascaron - 18th Century
Important wall fountain in polychrome earthenware, 18th-century work in the rocaille taste.
It consists of two elements: a reservoir with moving sides and its original cover, topped with an artichoke-shaped grip.
The body is decorated with reserves featuring floret and sowing decorations, underlined by garlands. The palette is particularly varied, combining shades of blue, green, yellow and brown.
The main face is embellished with a mascaron in relief, with expressive modeling, forming a spout with an antique metal tap. The sides are decorated with large leaves in relief, bringing volume and movement to the piece.
The lid takes up the rocaille vocabulary with a shell and foliage decoration, topped by a stylized fruit, evoking an artichoke or pine cone.
Presence of a fixing hole on the back attesting to its wall use.
