19th 10-piece Napoleon III Solid Silver Serving Set Massat Frères Minerva Hallmark

A 10-piece Napoleon III period silver carving and serving set in Minerva silver, bearing the hallmark of the Parisian silversmith Massat Frères, second half of the 19th century. A handsome model with finely guilloché, filled silver handles adorned with a Louis XVI style cartouche without a monogram. Each piece bears the Minerva 1st standard hallmark and the Massat F hallmark with a lyre on the handle: carving utensils for leg of lamb, salad servers, fish carving utensils, a sugar spoon, a small fork, and two spoons. The knife blade is engraved with the inscription "Paris. MASSAT frères, Paul et Eugène. Registered in 1885 at 15 rue Crussol in Paris." "MASSAT F," a lyre with a dot on each side. He succeeded Paul Massat.
Complete and in excellent, near-mint condition (even the steel knife blade is still polished and unoxidized) after 130 years. The set is housed in its original leather case.
