Sottsass Style Geometric Ceramic Vase Petucco & Tolio 1970s
Artist: Petucco & Tolio
Geometric red ceramic vase by the Italian manufacturer Petucco & Tolio, 1970s.
Ettore Sottsass launched his solid-color, geometric vases in the 1970s with Poltronova. This vase echoes these geometric lines in a beautiful, bright red color.
Petucco & Tolio, a ceramics manufacturing company, founded in 1945 by partners Giovanni Petucco, Andrea Tolio, and Gino Cuman, is located in Nove, in the province of Vicenza. In addition to producing vases, ornaments, and lamp bases, the factory's specialty, under the direction of Giovanni Petucco, is decorative panels in both traditional and modern styles, as well as famous stylized figures depicting priests and high priests. Important works, including monotypes, personally created by Giovanni Petucco, have been presented at various editions of the Venice Biennale and the Milan Triennale. The factory participated in the Venice Biennale in 1948 and 1956, as well as the Vicenza National Ceramics Exhibition in 1949 and 1961. It also exhibited abroad, in Sweden, Finland, France, and Germany. Despite the death of its founders, the factory continued production until the late 1970s and early 1980s.
The vases are not signed but bear an adhesive label. Our vase bears traces of a label that has unfortunately disappeared.
