Small Filigree Glass Dish, France, Circa 1700
Artist: Façon Venise
- Deep dish or plate
- Lattimo and colorless glass blown translucent glass, slightly grayish
- "Façon Venise", probably France, circa 1700
- Perfect condition
- Height: 36mm ; bowl diameter: 218 mm; foot diameter: 94 mm
- Round dish is slightly hollow with a narrow, flat, slightly raised wing, lined with a thin band of translucent glass. A thick net of flattened glass at its base acts as the foot. The glass is slightly grayish, with numerous bubbles and decorated with variousvarious filigree "lattimo" glass fillets.
- The "lattimo" glass principle in the gob is reminiscent of Venetian glass. The quality of the glass, in which many bubbles (impurities, high viscosity due to lack of heat during the dish's manufacture) and the somewhat heavy finish of the filigree suggests that the "Façon Venise" comes from abroad rather than Venetian style of the late 17th-early 18th century.
