- Very good condition, coat of arms skillfully de-engraved and replaced with a late 18th-century monogram
- Weight: 177g, height: 9.3 cm, diameters: 8.4 cm (at the opening molding) & 5.1 cm (base)
- This spherical silver soap box rests on a six-sided molded foot. The body is composed of two spherical sections joined by a band lined with fillets. It is engraved in its center with a slightly later monogram, "AL".
- A soap box with very similar characteristics, but smaller, from the Wentworth collection, is held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York (Inv. 48.187.113 and FD no.), accompanied by its sponge box. The Louvre Museum (Paris) possesses a hand candlestick by this silversmith dated 1775-76 [Louvre, T.II, no. 176, Inv. OA 9686].
