18th-century Fan, Painted And Gilded, Scene Of A Dog Hunt, Circa 1760–1770, Louis XV Style, Dogs

18th-century French Anciden fan, circa 1760–1770

The frame is finely pierced, carved, engraved, painted, and accented with gilding.

The fan panel depicts a hunting scene in a wooded landscape: on the left, a hunter accompanied by his dog watches two elegant female hunters positioned in the center of the composition, one of whom is holding her rifle.

Behind the hunter, a hare is fleeing while several dogs race after it on the opposite side of the scene.

The border of the panel is embellished with floral motifs and gilded scrollwork.

The frame is particularly elaborate, adorned with openwork motifs, rocaille, birds, flowers, fruits, butterflies, and small musical instruments, accented with polychrome and gilding.

The plumes are also carved and decorated, with some openwork sections revealing a colored background.

France, third quarter of the 18th century, circa 1760–1770.

Height: 29 cm.
