19th Century Victorian Perfume Bottle With Putti Gourd And Chased Vermeil Dolphin
This handsome, heavy pedestal perfume flask of pilgrim gourd form is in vermeil, molded and chased on both sides with mytological scenes depicting a putto riding a dolphin in an oval medallion.
The medallions are surrounded by rocaille ornaments of leaves, flowers and accolades.
The vermeil stopper fits into the neck and is topped by a ring grip in the style of the 18th century.
On the base, English hallmarks:
F B: import silversmith David Bridge active between 1885 and 1897
Lion passant: silver
Leopard's head: London
F and L letters dates of the London assay office 1881 and 1886.
