Writing case in boiled paper and leather - 17th century - Haute époque

Charming and rare 17th-century case box, made in boiled paper and leather, testifying to a skill inherited from medieval and Renaissance traditions.

This piece is distinguished by its refined decoration, composed of varied motifs such as striations, dots, suns and foliage, offering a beautiful ornamental effect and great visual richness. By its style and technique, it can be attributed to French or Italian work, regions particularly active in the production of this type of object.

Its elongated shape and dimensions (4 x 15.2 x 2.8 cm) evoke a case intended for writing utensils, possibly a calamus box.

Objects of this type, fragile by nature, are rare on the market today. This example is presented in a very fine state of preservation, with only a few light rubs related to its age.

A genuine and authentic piece of writing utensil.

An authentic and decorative piece, ideal for antique art collectors or curiosity enthusiasts.
