15th-century Medieval Pitcher Made Of Early Italian Majolica – Tuscany, Archaeology
Rare 15th-century pitcher in early Italian majolica, attributed to the Tuscan workshops of that period, reflecting their characteristic decorative features.
The decoration, painted on a beautiful tin-glaze, combines a green plant motif with geometric designs outlined in black, in a sober and elegant style typical of early Italian Renaissance majolica. The pitcher’s form, both simple and balanced, attests to the quality of the prestigious utilitarian ceramics produced in Tuscany during the 15th century.
This piece comes from an old Sicilian collection, adding to its historical and provenance value.
The pitcher measures 18.7 cm in height.
Note: the upper part of the pitcher has been reattached. However, this is an antique repair carried out using all original and period parts, with no visible modern additions. The object thus retains all its authenticity and value as an archaeological and historical artifact.
A beautiful collector’s item for enthusiasts of antique Italian majolica, Renaissance ceramics, or medieval and Renaissance decorative art objects.
