Covered Pot In Delft Earthenware, Chinese Blue-white Decoration, Attributed To The 18th Century
Covered earthenware jug with blue decoration on a white background, in the style of Delft productions inspired by Chinese porcelain. Its slightly twisted baluster shape and hand-painted decoration of figurative scenes, landscapes and plant motifs give it a refined, timeless decorative presence.
The lid, surmounted by a stylized animal, emphasizes its ornamental character and evokes the chinoiserie pieces much appreciated in European interiors. The whole is in keeping with the aesthetics of Delft production and is attributed to the 18th century.
Note: the lid shows an old restoration with the upper element glued back on, as well as a visible chip on it. The body is in good condition, with no notable flaws. Normal age-related wear and tear.
