Pair Of Bronze Vases, Japan, Meiji Period (1868–1912)

A pair of patinated bronze vases, made in Japan during the Meiji period. Each vase features an elegant globular body decorated with finely chased stylized waves, surmounted by a generously flared neck. The central section is enriched with vertical reserves featuring engraved decoration, lending the whole piece great visual richness and decorative depth. The handles, particularly remarkable, are formed of mythological creatures of the shishi type (guardian lions), rendered with a sense of movement and detail characteristic of late 19th-century Japanese workshops. Height: 36 cm
