Charles Lapostolet born 1824, died 1890. He was a painter of landscapes and seascapes. A student of Léon Cogniet, he appeared at the Salon from 1848. Awarded medals in 1870 and 1882. He exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1872. He was a witty painter, a good draftsman and a pleasant colorist. His seascapes are very interesting, retaining the layout of the 17th-century Dutch.
