André Wilder was a Post-Impressionist painter born in Paris in 1871 and died in 1965. A student of Jean-Léon Gérôme and Marius Michel, he was well-represented during his lifetime. He participated in numerous salons and was celebrated in many exhibitions worldwide. In 1904 and 1909, he exhibited at Bernheim's gallery. He visited Belgium and the Netherlands. Influenced by Monet, he painted en plein air. Committed to Impressionism, he painted in the style of Sisley and especially Maufra, whom he met in Trébeurden in 1865.
