Frank Scheidecker (1872–1915) was an artist and craftsman born in Manchester to an Alsatian family of textile designers. Settling in Mulhouse, he began as a designer of printed fabrics before developing a personal artistic practice centered on painting, watercolor, and the decorative arts. Inspired by Japanese art, Émile Gallé, and William Morris, Scheidecker fully belonged to the movement for the renewal of the applied arts at the end of the 19th century.
