This drawing comes from the collection of Isabelle Lecomte du Noüy and was inherited from her grandmother, Gabrielle Bernheim. In her second marriage, she had married the painter Félix Vallotton, a major figure in the Nabis group and a close associate of Édouard Vuillard.
A collection stamp bearing the initials of Isabelle Lecomte du Noüy was affixed to the back of the drawing by the Ader firm when the collection was dispersed.
