Pair Of Gilt And Patinated Bronze Candelabra, In The Style Of Clodion, 19th Century
A pair of gilt and patinated bronze candelabra, made in the style of Clodion, the celebrated 18th-century French sculptor. Each piece rests on a circular base of veined black marble, adorned with an elegant row of gilt bronze beads. The stems are decorated with finely chiseled mythological child figures in bronze with a brown patina: one represents a young faun, the other a Bacchic child crowned with vine leaves. These figures support three richly decorated candle arms, adorned with foliage and scrolls, and terminating in candle holders. A refined decorative ensemble, combining fine chiseling and classical elegance, characteristic of 19th-century pieces inspired by the 18th century.
