Louis XIV Style Table Chest, Covered In Red Morocco Leather With Studs And A Decorated Front With A Forged Handle
Artist: Non Signé
An important table chest covered in red morocco leather (Cape goatskin) and studded with yellow copper nails, its richly ornamented front and lid are secured by a rectangular, forged steel handle surrounded by a ring of nails. This well-proportioned 17th-century piece is highly decorative and, for its period during the reign of Louis XIV, remarkably well-preserved. The patina of this beautiful piece is as captivating as its front and lid, which are secured by sturdy steel hinges concealed beneath the leather. A curiosity steeped in history, despite the fact that its lock has been lost to time. A quality piece crafted from particularly strong and beautiful leather.
