Large terracotta sculpture representing the bust of Joseph Saige, politician, deputy to the Estates-General of 1789, General Councillor of the Gironde, and substitute judge at the Bazas court, by Emile Louis Truffot (Valenciennes 1843 - Paris 1896), French sculptor and student of Duret, Bonnassieux, and Cavalier at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He actively participated in the Salon from 1863 onwards with bronze works, oriental scenes, busts, and animal subjects. His most famous work is "The Shepherd Jupille Wrestling with a Rabid Wolf," a group commissioned for the Pasteur Institute. Minor chips to the headdress and the back of the base.
