Pair Of Covered Silver-plated Serving Pots, 19th Century
Indispensable for serving your garnishes, julienned vegetables, or ratatouille at your elegant dinners, these two silver-plated covered pots rest on small feet and feature turned ebony handles. A small cup allows the server to open the lid with their thumb, and a notch on the lid holds a spoon. They can then be placed on your sideboard until needed. This round shape is unusual; perhaps it is silverware from a country where Russian-style service is common. Initials were beautifully engraved on them in the 19th century. A very old, professional repair is visible on the hinge of one of the pots, restoring its sturdiness but causing a small crack during the soldering process. Barely noticeable, it does not detract from the object's elegance and is a natural part of its history, like minor wear and tear. Under the belly of the pot, there are numbers typical of the period, but no master goldsmith.
