In The Regency Style. Crucifix In Silver-plated Metal
In an attempt to erase the damage caused by the Revolution, or to complete a chapel's furnishings, silversmiths supplied numerous altar pieces in silver or silver-plated metal, often in the taste of the previous century.
This crucifix, ideal for a small chapel, is in the style of the grand siècle, and its base looks older than the rest, with a truly XVIIE style and a more rustic cast iron.
It was not uncommon, in fact, to combine antique elements with modern fabrications for the sake of economy.
The set is in very good condition, solid and well assembled.
