Louis XIII - Louis XIV Style Armchair In Walnut, Baluster Legs, Petit Point Fabric, 19th Century
A lovely Louis XIII/Louis XIV style armchair from the second half of the 19th century. It rests on a base connected by a turned wooden H-shaped stretcher in a baluster shape. The two rear legs are straight and square in section, while the two front legs are baluster-shaped. The back is high, wide, and flat, with a slight incline for added comfort. The armrests, with their sinuous shape, are finished with discreet scrollwork. It is made of various woods: the rear uprights are oak, the crossbars beech, and the turned wood elements walnut. The upholstery and covering are old but still in good condition. Note a small tear in the back upholstery fabric at the top of the back (see photo). This chair is stable and very sturdy.
