Small Rosewood And Palasander Marquetry Desk, Louis XVI Style – Early 20th Century
A Louis XVI style writing desk, crafted from rosewood and palisander marquetry. The top features a superb rosewood veneer arranged in a butterfly pattern, framed by a strip of stained wood and a palisander border, highlighting the exquisite craftsmanship. Two side leaves extend, providing a wider work surface while maintaining the overall aesthetic balance. The apron features a large drawer with a rosewood marquetry front adorned with a chased bronze keyhole escutcheon, complete with its ornate key and a working lock. The table rests on four tapered legs, typical of the Louis XVI style, embellished at the top with a gilt collar and terminating in elegant sabots, adding a further touch of refinement.
