Large Curved Beech Parrot Coat Rack, Thonet Style – Early 20th Century
This large parrot-style coat rack, crafted from bent beech wood that has been painstakingly steam-bent, embodies all the charm and technical mastery of the furniture of that era. Its slender silhouette is structured around a central solid wood shaft, which rises to a delicately carved finial. The upper crown features eight large, harmoniously curved S-shaped hooks, designed to hold coats, hats, and accessories while maintaining an airy and balanced silhouette.
The base, formed by curved legs joined by a hoop, ensures remarkable stability and contributes to the piece’s overall elegance. The piece as a whole reflects the blend of functionality and refinement that characterizes works inspired by the Viennese style and the bentwood furniture workshops of the turn of the century.
This coat rack, in the style of Thonet or Fischel, will naturally find its place in an entryway, an office, or a boutique, where it will add a touch of timeless elegance. Its presence, both discreet and full of character, fits just as well in a classic interior as in a contemporary setting seeking an authentic vintage touch.
