A beautiful bronze rooster, "Chantecler," signed by Clovis Edmond Masson, mounted on a marble base. Clovis-Edmond Masson, born in Paris on March 7, 1838, and died in 1913, was a French animal sculptor. A student of the French sculptor Antoine-Louis Barye, he specialized in animal sculpture. He primarily used plaster, wax, and bronze as materials. From 1867 to 1881, he exhibited regularly at the Paris Salon, producing over fifty works up to 1909.
