A very elegant sterling silver salver or sweetmeat dish dating from the Louis XV period, bearing the hallmarks of the city of Ghent for the year 1759 and the maker's mark of Pieter Colle II, admitted to the guild in 1757 and active until 1802. The bonbonnière's shape is inspired by silverware from around 1730, but the four rocaille-shaped handles and the engraving remind us that the object was indeed made during the Louis XV period. The four standard hallmarks are located in the center of the back of the bowl, and around the rim, as is typical in the Southern Netherlands, is the zigzag pattern of the silver assayer , or "striche." The object is in perfect condition and weighs 175 grams.
